Everything you need to map your world

WorldMap Pro is a free, browser-based interactive map editor. No sign-up, no install — everything runs locally in your browser.

Color Countries

Select the Color tool, pick a shade, then click any country to fill it instantly. Each colour you use is automatically added to your legend.

Freehand Drawing

Use the Pencil tool to annotate routes, highlight regions, or sketch directly on the map. Adjust brush size from hair-thin (0.3 px) to broad strokes.

Text Labels

Add text labels anywhere on the map. Labels are fully editable and draggable — perfect for naming regions, cities, or adding annotations.

Drop Pins & Notes

Pin any location and attach a written note. Great for travel planning, research projects, or sharing key points about specific places.

Save & Export

Save your project as a .json file and reload it later. Export a high-resolution PNG (3× density) for presentations, reports, or printing.

Undo & Redo

Every action is fully undoable. Use Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Y or the toolbar buttons. Up to 80 steps of history are kept for colours, drawings, text, and pins.

Get the most out of your maps

Practical tips and techniques to help you create better maps faster.

Technique

Using the Legend to build a colour key

After colouring regions, double-click any legend label to rename it — turn "Group" into "Visited", "Target Market", or any custom category. The legend is draggable so you can position it for your export.

Workflow

Combining pencil and text for detailed annotations

Use the Pencil tool to draw arrows or highlight borders, then add Text labels on top. Because layers are composited in order, labels always appear above pencil marks.

Export

Getting the sharpest PNG for presentations

Before exporting, zoom the map to the region you care about most, then click Export. The 3× render captures the full canvas at high DPI — ideal for slideshows and print.

Pins

Using pins as research bookmarks

Drop a pin on any city or region, write detailed notes in the note panel (supports long text), then save the project. Your notes persist across sessions when you reload the .json file.

Keyboard

Speed up your workflow with shortcuts

Ctrl+Z to undo, Ctrl+Y or Ctrl+Shift+Z to redo. Right-click any coloured country to instantly reset it. These shortcuts work in all tool modes.

Mobile

Touch drawing tips for mobile users

Always use a single finger to draw. Two fingers always trigger zoom/pan regardless of the active tool — so you can zoom in for precise work and then resume drawing seamlessly.
